1. 26th March 2004 - Shilpa expands operations in Butibori Industrial Area, and plans further expansion in structural steel products.

2. 14th Feb 2006 - Shilpa expands steel manufacturing capacity to 100,000 MT per annum.

3. 21st Dec 2006 - ISO 9001:2008 certification re-awarded to Shilpa for Quality Management System by DNV, The Netherlands.

4. 8th Aug 2008 - BIS certification awarded to Shilpa for manufacturing of beams and channels for general structural purposes in addition to angles as per IS 2062:2006.

5. 22nd April 2009 - PGCIL approves Shilpa for manufacturing of higher sections (MS/HT angles up to sizes of 200 X 200 X 25 mm).

6. 22nd Dec 2009 - MSETCL approves Shilpa for supply of equipment support structures and gantries for EHV transmission projects.

7. 31st Mar 2010 - Shilpa TLT crosses the 12,000 MT mark in the 8th month of its inception.

8. 30th Aug 2010 - GETCO approves Shilpa as vendor for manufacture & supply of transmission line towers and substation structures up to 400 kV.

9. 25th Sep 2010 - Rolling of beams upto 250 MM and channels upto 100 MM begins.

10. 8th Oct 2010 - PGCIL approves Shilpa for manufacture and supply of Galvanized Tower Structures/Parts for POWERGRID projects.

11. 4th Nov 2010 - APTRANSCO approves Shilpa as Transmission Line Tower suppliers and Re-rollers of angles for APTRANSCO projects.

12. 30th Nov 2010 - Shilpa supplies 400 kV (Quad bundled, MOOSE conductor) towers; wind zone 5 for the first time in the country for GMR Rajahmundry evacuation line.

13. 24th Feb 2011 - Shilpa successfully tests its first 220 KV tower for GRIDCO, Ghana.

14. 28th Feb 2011 - Shilpa gets approved for managing processes as per ISO 14001: 2004 for Environmental Management Systems and OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Health & Safety by DNV, The Netherlands.

15. 10th Sep 2011 - Shilpa bags various orders for 765kV D/C and 400kV lines from the Power Grid Corporation of India valued at Rs 190 crores.

16. 14th Nov 2011- Shilpa adds capacity to the tune of 12000MT per annum, taking overall capacity to 72,000MT.

17. 06th Dec 2011 - Shilpa bags orders worth Rs 130 crores from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

18. 14th Jan 2012 - Shilpa gets re-appointed as conversion agents for Steel Authority of India Ltd for supply for angles of various sizes from 75mm flanges to 200mm flanges, in addition to channels (up to 100mm) and beams (up to 250mm).

19. 10th Feb 2012 - Chattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSPTCL) approves Shilpa for  supply of 400kV lines.

20. 12th Mar 2012 - Shilpa gets approved by Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board (TANTRANSCO) for supply of 220kV lines.

21. 31st Mar 2012 - Shilpa crosses the 5000MT per month mark for in house fabrication and galvanising.

22. 01st Apr 2012 - Shilpa crosses the 70,000MT mark in two and half years of its inception.

23. 04th Apr 2012 - Shilpa bags orders worth Rs 70 crores from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, and another 38 crores from other SEB's.


Power transmission and distribution is the nerve centre of the Indian power sector and provides basic infrastructure to facilitate power transmission and trading. With enforcement of the Electricity Act of 2003, the power sector is expected to grow at a rapid rate and addition of another 100,000 MW, or more, of generation capacity is foreseen by 2012. The power transmission section will also grow in tandem and about 70,000 circuit kilometers of transmission lines are planned to be added in central sector alone. This will necessitate large quantities of fabricated/ galvanized tower parts to the order of 700,000 MT in the 10th plan and 670000 MT in the 11th plan. This domestic requirement, generated mainly by the Power Grid Corporation of India supplemented with most SEB's pooling in, is augmented by a strong demand from abroad, including Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East and the telecom sector and others like windmill towers, railway traction structures.

Looking at this staggering requirement of galvanized steel parts in the subcontinent and beyond, we at Shilpa have realized the importance of supplying the same in the best possible manner by setting up a highly productive plant in Central India, with the most stringent process norms and timely deliveries in mind. With an experience of more than 20 years of supplying steel for the sector, we are well aware of the challenges of timely and low cost deliveries, and of the strict quality norms that bind us to produce the best. We understand the necessity and importance of being aware of our environment and are committed both socially and morally toward its protection. The plant also incorporates the most advanced and sophisticated methods of pollution control, and is the first of its kind to arrest all possible pollution arising out of the steel making and galvanizing processes.
